The ACT Government's Secure Local Jobs Code ensures that contracts are awarded to business that meet the highest safety and industrial relations standards.
It applies to businesses in the construction, cleaning, security and traffic management industries who we contract to provide services to our government and community. It also applies to high value contracts where labour cost is the highest cost to the government.
The code is part of our procurement requirements and ensures eligible businesses wishing to tender for ACT Government work meet industrial relations, fair treatment of workers, work health and safety and diversity and inclusion standards. Businesses must provide their Secure Local Jobs Code certificate as part of their tender for government work.
An advisory council of ministerially appointed members representing employee and employer interests advises the government on the operation of the code.
