Apply/Renew for a Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate

To apply for or renew a Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate, you must engage an approved auditor who is independent from the ACT Government. The auditor will guide you through the assessment process, including what information you need to provide, and will submit your application to the Secure Local Jobs Code Registrar once the assessment is complete.

Before you apply/renew

Before applying or renewing, take the following steps:

  1. Read the Secure Local Job Code and understand your business obligations.
  2. Review and update your workplace systems and policies to meet the requirements of Part 2 and 3 of the Code.
  3. Engage an approved auditor to assess your business's compliance with the Code.
  4. Gather the necessary documentation for the auditor, including the Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate Application, business or instalment activity statements, and evidence of superannuation scheme payments, among others.
  5. Notify your auditor if your business is tendering or performing work that requires compliance with Commonwealth law, and request an exemption as needed.

Applying/Renewing

When you have completed the online application, submit it directly to your approved auditor for review. The auditor will then submit an audit report detailing your business's compliance with the Code to the Registrar for consideration. Your business will also receive a copy of this submission for your records.

The Registrar will then determine whether your business meets the requirements of the Code, and may issue a Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate on behalf of the ACT Government. Any conditions or exemptions will be listed on the certificate, which can be valid for up to 30 months, depending on your business's history of compliance.

Time to apply

The time it takes for your approved auditor to complete an assessment depends on your business size and structure, your preparation for the assessment, and your auditor's availability. The Registrar will issue a Code Certificate within five business days of receiving a complete and compliant application.
